MAN FINDS FIRE launches at Geary Lane - JULY 26 BBQ w/Bile Sister, A K U A, Petra Glynt & more!

Toronto, ON

Geary Lane is a vision for the future of Toronto's independent music community. Recently rebranded by Jason Pollard, and Justin Adam, the two young dads have transformed the building from a professional film/recording studio and rehearsal space to an immersive concert venue.
As Drake Hotel alumni, they dreamt for years to create an immersive music movement that would embrace accessible but experimental art in Toronto. The guys have since left the hotel to flourish in their respective fields of creative design (Adam) and film/tv (Pollard), and realize their vision under the guise of MAN FINDS FIRE.
MAN FINDS FIRE is focused on creating an outlet for the fringe, avant-pop and experimental music community. For the past decade, the venue has also been the home of Samba Squad, a neighborhood charity for at-risk youth in Bloordale.

The venuefication of the Geary strip has been in the DIY spirit of 285 Kent, what was once a rundown warehouse in Williamsburg. Thanks in part to local studios like the Rehearsal Factory, an arts-centric hub has mushroomed with a number of other music venues popping up like Encore Rehearsal Studios, S.H.I.B.G.B's and Kitch, a resto-bar from Brian Jackson of Starving Artist.
Past shows have featured Koen Holtkamp of Mountains (Thrill Jockey) and NY Times-reviewed experimental trumpeter, Peter Evans. Upcoming shows will host Sir Richard Bishop (Drag City), Black Walls (Pleasance) with a full schedule of programming going forward into the fall collaborating with Wavelength and Burn Down The Capital.
To celebrate the opening, on Saturday July 26th, Man Finds Fire will host a multilevel BBQ with access to the venue's rooftop patio overlooking the Toronto skyline featuring emerging local bands including Bile Sister, Mimico, A K U A, and an immersive art installation from Petra Glynt.
