Shad 'Bow Wow' Moss on Relationship with Snoop Dogg, CSI:Cyber & Cyber Privacy + New Music

Hip-Hop rapper, actor and television host Shad 'Bow Wow' Moss sits down with Larry King on the Emmy nominated series “Larry King Now” to discuss his new role on “CSI:Cyber”, his relationship with Snoop Dogg and when we can expect new music from the duo.

The musician dished on when he’ll be releasing his upcoming record with Snoop and filled Larry in on the potential for a whole new album, “We’re in a what’s hot; we’re in-demand-for-it-right-now type of situation, you know? That’s why there’s only like five artists that really can sell records. Everything is right now and it’s fast and it’s all about having the hot record at the moment. For myself, it’s all about going back to the drawing board and wanting to put out great quality music. And when it comes, it comes” (clips below).

Actor Shad 'Bow Wow' Moss told Larry due to his new role on “CSI: Cyber” he's become paranoid in regards to all things in the cyber world, “These criminals are so smart nowadays. Anything with Wi-Fi they can tap into. Even if it’s a coffee maker. They know how to make that do things. So, it’s just—when you see these things happening and you hear about them, it’ll definitely shake your world up a little bit, so I’m definitely approaching things with a lot of caution.” He also gave Larry a few tips on how to avoid being hacked (clips below).

‘Bow Wow’ explained to Larry how he's been able to stay out of trouble growing up in the industry, unlike some of his peers, “Just loving what I do, just doing what I love, and not wanting to jeopardize anything that I love and I just watch other guys make mistakes and it’s like I never want anybody to ever report the bad news on me, so that’s what keeps my head forward.” The singer also weighed in on BET's '106 & Park' going off the air after a 14 year run, "The reason why 106 went off is just the era that we’re in now, you know? When music is concerned with TV, kids, they’re like why do I have to watch television when I can go online and see my favorite artists’ video."

Quotes:

“The main thing for me taking on my government name was just branding, you know, just branding. Bow Wow was someone who was totally different from Shad Moss. Like, right now this is Shad Moss. You might see a little bit of Bow Wow as we continue to talk, but right now this is Shad.”

“When I do my acting thing I never wanted people to say, 'Well, he got this role because he’s a popular rap star.' I wanted people to respect the fact that—no, this young man got this role because he really could do it.”

“To me what makes a great producer is you have to have guidance. You have to be able to guide. You have to be a leader. A great producer has leadership. He has a ear for the music, ear for sound, and just has an IQ level that’s, you know, off the charts.”

“I never saw this coming—me going into the acting world. […]  I never saw this happen. I thought I would rap, you know—the cute kid grows a little older.”

“Just loving what I do, just doing what I love, and not wanting to jeopardize anything that I love and I just watch other guys make mistakes and it’s like I never want anybody to ever report the bad news on me, so that’s what keeps my head forward.” – on avoiding trouble like many young celebrities

“We’re in a what’s hot; we’re in-demand-for-it-right-now type of situation, you know? That’s why there’s only like five artists that really can sell records. Everything is right now and it’s fast and it’s all about having the hot record at the moment. For myself, it’s all about going back to the drawing board and wanting to put out great quality music. And when it comes, it comes.” – on if we’ll see another full album

“These criminals are so smart nowadays. Anything with Wi-Fi they can tap into. Even if it’s a coffee maker. They know how to make that do things. So, it’s just—when you see these things happening and you hear about them, it’ll definitely shake your world up a little bit, so I’m definitely approaching things with a lot of caution.” – on cyber privacy

“It was not different for me because, you know, I look at everything—all of it is a form of entertainment, and to me, in heart, I feel like I am a pure entertainer, so I always tell my mind. I can do anything as long as I put my mind to it.” – on hosting ‘106 & Park’

“What makes a good rapper is lyricist––lyrics. Are you making sense? What are you telling us?”

“It’s short for independent. I just wanted to come with something different and, you know, that’s what it is when you’re drinking. Everyone preaches, ‘Drink responsibly,’ which means, you should know your limit, which means, ‘You are you. Be independent. Know your own risks.’” – on NDI Vodka

“I always tell people it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. And for myself I’m always in the night spots.” – on if being in the alcohol business is good choice

“I think, you know, it’s not just my personal life. I think that’s just the thing now. Everybody wants to know what’s beyond the entertainment, what’s beyond the celebrity shield. That’s what they really want to know and we just live in a gossip era.” –– on why people are so interested in his personal life

“I rehearse my lines in my sleep.” – on how he prepares for ‘CSI: Cyber’

“I want to be––I just want to be bigger than what I am now. [...] I just want to be bigger than all of my peers who did it before me, who laid down the front, that I want to be bigger than Diddy. I want to be bigger than Jermaine.” – on where he sees himself in 10 years

“I had a girl jump from the loading dock, landed on the top of my tour box and said, ‘I’m not getting down until I get a picture with you.’ We had to call the fire department to get her down and we got her down, had to take the picture.” – on his craziest fan encounter
