Toronto R&B royalty Andreena & DJ powerhouse Lissa Monét have joined forces once again to woo music lovers with their much anticipated mixtape entitled #DearGyal Vol. 1, scheduled for release August 13th, 2015.
Inspired by the revolutionary #Baregyal event series taking the Toronto party scene by storm; Andreena and Lissa have created the perfect recipe to fill the musical gap that exists today, combining audacious powerful sounds with social and thought provoking messages that have become the underlying tone of the #Baregyal movement’s inclusive motto hosted by Tika The Creator.
#DearGyal Vol.1 marks Andreena’s exciting freshman leap into the DJ world, offering a fresh renewed mixture of songs and sounds; while yet again demonstrating the proven flairs of DJ Lissa Monet and her genius as a versatile and influential disc jockey extraordinaire. #DearGyal Vol.1 is a rare and powerful mixtape that pays homage to tradition & trends, setting the tone for Toronto’s #Baregyal undertaking. Hosted by electrifying veteran emcee and the founder of the #BareGyal movement Tika The Creator, the tape is geared towards breaking barriers and stigmas as well as creating a safe and positive space for all, especially women to express themselves.
#DearGyal Vol.1 contains a rare and special tool to empower every listener, an open letter from the hostess and the curators to their listeners, powered by the words of Sahar Talebi.
With their last collaboration in 2009 for the acclaimed “Ready to Fly,” this marks the first time Andreena and Lissa Monet have teamed up since with the help of Tika, to deliver one of the best collaborative projects of the year to music enthusiasts everywhere.
