Last week, Waka Flocka Flame previewed Flockaveli 1.5 with releasing “Blue or Red,” a booming street anthem.
As has been reported by several sources, Waka Flocka Flame has made multiple demands to be relieved of his contract with Atlantic Records. He has gone as far as releasing the label’s phone number over his social media channels and asking his fans to call the label and demand his release. Not one to sit idly by, Waka Flocka Flame rewards fans that have been patiently waiting for a new album, after significant delays, with 12 brand new records. Waka Flocka Flame is referring to this album as Flockaveli 1.5 hinting to his fans that Flockaveli 2 is indeed still forthcoming, pending resolution to his dispute with Atlantic Records.
Brick Bronson, President, 36BRICKHOUSE elaborates, “Waka Flocka Flame and 36BRICKHOUSE are constantly progressing forward. The fans have been waiting for new music from Waka Flocka Flame long enough and we’re going to give it to them.”
And the General, Waka Flocka Flame says to his fans, “Flockaveli 2 is coming. At every show, my fans ask me for new music so I’m not going to have them wait any longer. Despite whatever issues I have with my label, you’re getting what is basically a whole album as a free download. Introducing Flockaveli 1.5. This is how I say thank you to my fans who’ve been patient and supportive all this time.”
Waka Flocka Flame has been touring non-stop for the past few years, most recently with DJ Whoo Kid on the party tour of the year, the Turn Up Godz Tour. Waka Flocka Flame has been consistently providing his fan-base with a heavy volume of music since his last album release.
Earlier this year, Waka Flocka Flame delivered “Game On,” featuring Good Charlotte; the theme song for the feature film, Pixels. The record was used by the ABC network during the 2015 NBA Finals.
About Waka Flocka Flame:
Born Juaquin James Malphurs, the Atlanta rapper rose to prominence as Gucci Mane’s protégé and his flagship artist of 1017 Brick Squad. In 2009, Waka put trap back on the map, dropping the first volume of his street classic Salute Me or Shoot Methat caught fire with songs, “We On The Way, “Dreads N Gold” and his breakout single “O Let’s Do it.” The mixtape’s buzz allowed Waka to release his proper debut Flockaveli in October, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200.
Following his sudden popularity, Waka Flocka Flame collaborated with hip-hop’s mainstream elite such as T.I., Drake and B.o.B. On Waka and Gucci’s 2011 collaborative effort Ferrari Boyz and 2012’s Triple F Life: Fans, Friends & Family, Waka’s high energy is the sole reason why he’s earned the nickname “Turn Up God.” That style translates into the EDM world Waka calls home now. He fell in the love with the genre during a tour in Europe two years ago.
Set to feature production from Southside, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, and more, Waka Flocka Flame’s highly anticipated album Flockaveli 2 is scheduled for release online and in-stores at the top of next year.
Waka Flocka Flame wants this album to return to the basics that made him a rap star. For Flockaveli 2, he’s approaching his third studio album the same way as his previous projects: trap banger after trap banger. His laid-back demeanor makes him a fan favorite, and he’s hoping that his straightforward creative process will please his core fans. “I’m cocky when it comes to my fans and my music ‘cause I know my fans talk to me,” he says, noting that 31 tracks are already laid down for the LP. “I want my fans to look at they haters like, ‘Told y’all my boy was gonna go hard.”
With 1.5 million followers on Twitter (@WakaFlocka) and 1.4 million followers on Instagram, he’s become the second most active celebrity on social media platforms, as well as the second most searched name on Google. Waka Flocka Flame is also cultivating a steady EDM presence thanks to touring with Steve Aoki and appearing on songs by DJ-producer Borgore and Flosstradamus. While fans have to wait for his EDM album Turn Up God releasing sometime this year, they will have more than enough reasons to celebrate with the approaching release of Flockaveli 1.5 this Nov. 25 followed by Flockaveli 2.
