2017 Vans Warped Tour

Unknown to many, the Vans Warped Tour has been the stepping stone for many hip-hop and hip-hop influenced artists throughout the years. Notable artists that have began and advanced their careers on the Vans Warped Tour include Eminem, Machine Gun Kelly, G-Eazy, Yelawolf, Shwayze, Public Enemy, Talib Kweli, Atmosphere, N.E.R.D, MC Chris, T. Mills, Kool Keith, Esham, D-12 and more.

The Vans Warped Tour has always been a place for all facets of the counterculture.  The music started with punk and evolved to include ska, hardcore, metalcore, pop punk, and other sub-genres of the rock / alternative / metal spectrum; but, one of the most commonly overlooked facets of the tour has been its involvement in the hip-hop and rap culture.

"People have this misconception that Warped is just about one sect of music," says tour founder Kevin Lyman, "but the truth is Warped Tour is about bringing genres of music with forward-thinking like-minded people together.  Maybe a pop punk fan and a hip-hop fan are actually not that different and I want to bring these people together to enjoy music."

About the Vans Warped Tour
Now in its 23rd year, the tour is one of the most successful in the nation. It is also one of the most BRUTAL. Almost 90 bands and hundreds of vendors and sponsors load in and out daily for over 40 dates in sweltering temperatures over the summer.

The tour has also cemented its place in history by bringing alternative rock and skate culture from the underground to the forefront of global youth culture, while at the same time helping those in need through non-profit and eco-initiatives. Alternative Press readers voted the Vans Warped Tour as the "Best Tour/Festival" and Rolling Stone called it "America's Most Successful Festival".
