adidas Originals Releases Alphatype Pack

Showcasing many of the season’s most coveted silhouettes in a special release, this month adidas Originals brings the extra-large branding trend to eight of its newest models to create the Fall 2018 Alphatype Pack.

Named for the enlarged typographic details applied to the side of each shoe in the release, the Alphatype Pack takes a classic approach to seven different adidas Originals models, with each shoe assuming a crisped, blacked-out colorway with either navy blue or hot pink accents.

First up, the Deerupt Runner silhouette steps out in its classic stretch mesh and grid overlay construction, placed atop an EVA midsole and durable rubber outsole. Next, the EQT Support ADV Mid model presents a sock-fit knitted upper with a woven stripe pattern, reinforced by structural overlays and a classic compression-molded midsole.

The evolutionary EQT Support 91/18 model appears next, assuming a Primeknit™ and nubuck upper with molded TPU stripe cage and a distinctive Boost™ midsole, while the refined ZX 500 RM silhouette bolsters the shoe’s retro-inspired suede/mesh makeup and streamlined design with oversized branding hits and a Boost™ midsole.

The latest iteration of the popular NMD series, the NMD_Racer PK silhouette, has also been given the Alphatype treatment for the release, using a classic Primeknit™ construction with the shoe’s usual design elements including minimalist lace closure, a Boost™ midsole with Quickstrike inserts, welded 3-stripe mark and woven heel strap. The evolutionary Crazy BYW X model assumes a similar approach, bolstering the shoe’s Primeknit/suede construction with oversized branding hits and contrast hot pink elements on the shoe’s unorthodox lacing system, while essential aspects like Boost™ midsole pods and an extended Torsion™ system in the outsole are restored in full.

The soccer-inspired Sobakov silhouette steps out in its own Alphatype treatment, concealing oversized branding details beneath the shoe’s swerving 3-stripe mark. Other design elements such as offset laces, an asymmetric knitted upper and classic gum outsole with an aggressive chevron grip pattern complete the picture.

And finally, the P.O.D. System shoe assumes a breathable mesh construction across the upper with contrast underlays, reinforced by welded 3-stripe mark and fabric lace eyelet panels. The shoe’s distinctive split midsole tooling is featuring supportive EVA in the forefoot and Boost™ cushioning in the heel. Final touches include a big P.O.D.System logo on the quarter.

Uniting 8 distinctive silhouettes from disparate corners of the adidas Originals universe, the Alphatype Pack presents the very best in the brand’s contemporary roster through a single striking lens. The result is a release equal parts understated and confident, creating a series of shoes in unassuming colorways that remain impossible to miss.
