THE LATEST TRENDS IN SECURITY SYSTEM  TECHNOLOGY

Security system technology has certainly come a long way from bulky video cameras that save their footage on tapes. New innovation is making these systems smarter, more capable, and reliable. Below are a couple of trends that are expected to change we think and use security systems.

Innovation in Motion Detection

Motion detection technology is not new but older versions of it can only be effective in certain conditions. For example, effective motion detection is only possible during the day. But innovation has helped this technology to have broader application. For example, many of these devices are equipped with radar and sound detection using microphones and glass break technology.

Although it is still a long way off for practical domestic use, as in the case of radar motion sensors which uses electromagnetic technology in order to detect movement even in low light conditions. Radar is especially useful in decreasing false alarms. Radar technology is also able to give more detailed information about objects it has detected as well as speed, location, and even direction of movement.

Audio Sensors

Like every other system that relies on technology, security systems continue to improve and innovate. It's becoming commonplace for different forms of surveillance to be integrated together, as in the case of audio and video surveillance. As security cameras improve, manufacturers continue to add features such as microphones and enhanced audio detection capabilities.

These innovations make surveillance systems far more capable when it comes to supporting complex algorithms. A microphone paired with a spy camera is able to listen and detect certain types of sounds like breaking glass, gunfire, or any loud behavior. The moment these sounds are detected, the system can be programmed to start recording, send a notification to the homeowner, or alert a monitoring station so someone can check the live footage.

Mobile Integration

In the last couple of years, mobile integration for security systems has become standard. Smart home features have become integrated for both home and commercial security systems. Remote monitoring through a mobile device is one feature of this innovation, as well as the ability to remotely arm or disarm the system. Manufacturers have also started to integrate features like Panic buttons and triggering alarms into mobile devices through apps. This makes it possible for homeowners and business owners to sound the alarm and alert their monitoring station for any potential security emergencies.

This technology also allows users to cancel false alarms or verify if further action is required when they receive a notification from the system. What's more, these new systems are highly programmable, making it easy for users to set custom alerts and notifications making access more convenient and the security experience a lot more comprehensive.

Machine learning

Many consider machine learning to be another form of AI. This coupled with analytics makes it possible to use predictive analytics in making security systems more effective. New algorithms are continuously being developed to make security systems smarter, more efficient, and more accurate. Applications for this innovation include suppressing false alarms and behavioral prediction.

As machine learning and AI technology continue to advance, security systems are also expected to rapidly improve. Automation is also going to be more reliable and move security efforts towards active and preventive measures instead of the more traditional passive security surveillance.

Better Video Resolution

Lastly, an expected advancement in security systems will have to do with surveillance cameras producing higher resolution videos for more effective video footage. Many of the new security cameras are now capable of recording in 4K Ultra HD which means each frame is sharp enough to make out important details such as plate numbers, facial features, and other details that might become useful for surveillance.
