Shania Twain Tells Apple Music Whitney Houston Was One Of Her Greatest Vocal Influences Ever…

I was a huge fan. As a teenager, I always sang along with her records, just learning from her voice… it was so flooring, just devastating, devastating news to lose one of my greatest vocal influences ever.

Shania Twain on Karen Carpenters Influence on Her as a Vocalist...

Karen Carpenters' voice is definitely one of the primary voices that influenced my singing style from early, early childhood. I just always admired the smooth and easygoing style, her pitch perfect control and her lazy, easy going phrasing, just everything about her stylistically as a vocalist. And one of my favorites of The Carpenters is For All We Know. Karen Carpenter, why can't you still be here with us? I say that every time I listen to her music and to her voice, but I play her voice and feel really good because her voice makes me feel good. It's very soothing and just very calming. This is a beautiful song. And Karen sings it like an angel. Rainy Days and Mondays, The Carpenters.

Shania Twain on Her Go To Music To Cheer Up To…

… when I'm feeling down and I want to pick my spirits up. Often, I'll put on music by The Bee Gees or ABBA, stuff from my teens, kind of like teenage high school dance music, where you just make a fool of yourself up there and shake it out and have a really good time. So that's kind of a go-to period.

Shania Twain Tells Apple Music About Elvis Presley...

Elvis Presley, definitely a heartthrob for my parents' generation, my mom's generation. I remember when I was a kid, I always thought he was almost sort of, I guess, from a kid's point of view, he was goofy for being sexy. And then as I got older, I thought, "He really is so hot and sexy." Anyway, my thinking matured looking back at Elvis Presley over the years. And I learned to appreciate his voice even more and more as I got older and especially because I guess he wasn't around anymore to record new music. And I just thought every time I heard his voice, come on, I'm listening to a true classic, a true original.
