To Write Love On Her Arms announces Fifth annual Black And White Campaign

Non-profit To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) just launched its 5th Annual Black and White campaign to honor Mental Health Awareness Month (May). This year, it revolves around three statements the organization believes are “non-negotiable” and “black and white.”

The three statements the non-profit will highlight and explore throughout the month include: “Hope Is Defiant”; “It’s Okay To Ask For Help”; and “We Need You Here.”

“We want to create a future where mental health is a priority for everyone. Where care is accessible and affordable for all, and people can speak about their mental health freely, without shame,” says TWLOHA Co-Executive Director Jessica Haley. “The Black and White campaign allows us to share statements we believe to be true and to encourage folks to take small but impactful and tangible steps that will help them prioritize their mental well-being in ways they deserve.”

People can participate and support by purchasing shirts featuring the three statements, reading the blog, and joining the month-long conversation on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook (@TWLOHA). Supporters can join Partners In Health Director of Mental Health Programs and Harvard Medical School Director of Global Mental Health and Social Medical Programs Dr. Giuseppe (Bepi) Raviola, M.D., MPH, on TWLOHA’s Instagram on Monday, May 9, at 1:30pm ET for a chat about how to take the initial steps to begin caring for their mental health.

TWLOHA has partnered with PicCollage to create templates to help share the statements on social media. All templates can be found in the PicCollage app here: https://piccollage.onelink.me/tJGq/bmhuzoyo

A number of streamers have chosen to use the month of May to fundraise for this year’s Black and White campaign. To view active fundraisers or opt to stream for TWLOHA, you can visit https://tiltify.com/twloha/mental-health-matters-1772c0fc-ad4b-4440-8bf7-0496654142b7

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since its start in 2006, they have donated over $3 million directly into treatment and recovery making it possible to access mental health care when they need it the most.

Each month, TWLOHA creates more than 11 million moments of hope through their online and social media presence for people in over 100 countries. And these moments lead to people taking the next step to find help as TWLOHA connects 3,000+ people monthly to mental health resources like crisis lines, support groups, and affordable local mental health resources through the FIND HELP Tool.
